Welcome to my layout web page. I am Martin, 26 years old. I have been modelling railways, well any type of modelling for approximatly 3 years now. I wanted to build a layout, that was more in the scenic side of a layout then operating. I would prefer to watch the trains running around with plenty of scenery then operating. I am looking at being automated, with the layout being operated via the PC. As the layout stands at the minute, it just needs an occupancy board to complete the list of what I need to become automated. Only being in to the hobby for a few years, I made many mistakes. One mistake I felt I made, was the baseboard. I used chipboard for the baseboard, when I wish I had used plywood. this moves me on to the next mistake, which was I wish I would of done an open frame layout. The track is Peco track code 100, with just the 2 large loops with a few sidings coming of the loop lines, I have used small and medium peco points. The layout is Dcc controller also controlled from the PC via the controller. The controller I have is a Digitrax Zephyr, I find this controller very easy and simply to use. Dcc was a major step forward from Dc and the result is rewarding. Most of the buildings on my layout scratch build, using plasticard. All of the scratch buildings are based on real buildings around the UK, like the church which is based on St Peters Chruch in Levington, Norfolk. Depending on the building, depends on the time to build. This is the time to build and not how long it took me to finnish them. The largest building, the church, took a week to build and paint. |
